Perseids meteor shower and Stargazing trip!

Update: The address to the summit is Mt Pinos, California 93225 yes that's the whole address, we're going all the way to the parking lot at the top.

The Perseids meteor shower is the 2nd biggest meteor shower of the year. You will also be able to see the milky way galaxy with your naked eye! We're going to be meeting at my place to plan carpools and heading out from there. Alternatively you can meet us there or we can pick you up.

So why Mt Pinos? Three reasons:

• Dark sky: It's 10 levels darker than in Los Angeles, each level means 10X the darkness, meaning the sky is over 100X darker than it is in Los Angeles.

• Elevation: Mt pinos is HIGH. 8848ft above sea level. The atmosphere (pollution, dust/dirt, and smog is reduced) this allows you to see the stars better.

• Mt pinos is the best-bang-for-the TIME, to get to another place this dark (like joshua tree) you might have to drive over FOUR HOURS.

• It will take TWO AND A HALF HOURS TO GET THERE FROM MY HOUSE.

• We will leave my house at 9:00PM and get there at 11:30PM.

• We will stay for approx 2 hours, we'll get back ~4:00AM

• Some of us may stay and Camp. There will probably be enough tents for everyone, but if you want to camp bring a sleeping bag or a thick blanket to sleep on. If you do have a tent, bring it.

• It will be FUCKING FREEZING at 55 DEGREES. Wear or bring MULTIPLE layers of clothing to wear. However much you think is enough, wear another layer or two, TRUST ME.

• Bring a beach chair or even better something to lie down on. It's going to be two hours you don't want to spend it standing. EVEN IF YOU BRING A CHAIR BRING SOMETHING TO SIT ON, like a towel, again, it's gonna be freezing.

• BRING AT LEAST $10 to give to your driver If you're being given a ride. You're being driven 180 miles round trip 9000 feet up in the air up a mountain. I suggest giving $15 (i'll be giving 15) to be really fair but MINIMUM $10.
