The Evolution of Baseball Analytics: Data, Technology, and Statistical Practice in Professional Baseball
The history of data collection and record keeping in Baseball goes back nearly as long as the sport itself. But how that data gets collected, interpreted, and applied has changed dramatically over the past few decades. This presentation traces the evolution of baseball analytics, from early box score statistics through the Moneyball era and into the high-resolution tracking systems used today. It covers how these changes have shaped front office decision-making, on-field strategy, and player development, and introduces some of the core statistical frameworks that underpin modern baseball analysis.
