If the attendance list is full, please join the wait-list. I'm almost always able to accommodate everyone as the weekend approaches.

Overview: Peters Canyon Regional Park offers a compact snapshot of several of southern california's plant communities. In a hike less than three miles we'll see examples of coastal sage scrub, riparian, grasslands, and freshwater marsh.

We will hike the North Loop Trail around the lake, identifying trees and looking out for the numerous mammals, birds, and reptiles that call the freshwater marsh home.

I'm classifying this hike as beginner. Total distance is about three miles, with about 200 feet of elevation gain. All that said, we'll be taking a leisurely pace with frequent stops, so as long as you have an ok fitness level, you'll be good to go.

Here are a few of the topics we'll be learning about:

- Natural history of the area
- Grasslands, coast sage, riparian woodland, and freshwater marsh ecosystems
- Wildflower and other plant identification
- Hydrology of the area
- Engineering of the dam

I've capped attendance for this event, so, if full, please join the waitlist and I'll try to accommodate as the event gets closer.
