Come learn about sortition and Civic Assemblies!

A Civic Assembly is a random selection from members of a community to come together and address community concerns. The random selection bit is the "sortition". This is a tool and a path to bring democracy to the people.

This is a casual hang out, but we will do a facilitated discussion about topics chosen by you (whomever shows up)! Not only is this a demonstration of how deliberation can be facilitated, but it also is a great way to meet people and engage with new ideas.

Public Democracy LA (PDLA) is working with Culver City to facilitate a Civic Assembly for their participatory budget process. PDLA is also working with Rewrite LA to to possibly use Civic Assemblies in the charter reform process going on now in Los Angeles.
