April Meetup at NewCars.com/Cars.com in Santa Monica
Details
Our April meetup will be hosted by mighty Pythonistas at http://NewCars.com / http://Cars.com , at their offices in Santa Monica.
Please note: RSVPs help our sponsors estimate how much food/beer to buy for us. If your plans change or you cannot attend, please RSVP "NO" so we can plan accordingly and so that everybody who can attend can get into the event!
We have two talks this month:
Deploying Twelve-Factor Python Applications Using Habitat by George Marshall, Engineer at MediaTemple:
A heads first introduction to the fundamentals of what makes an app twelve-factor. Illustrating the practical benefits and common mistakes that are made when attempting this approach to application deployment.
Habitat is a new open source product from Chef, built around the fundamentals of twelve-factor and application automation.
Build it with Pyramid, by Michael R of Cars.com:
Though slightly less known than Flask or Django, Pyramid is a top-notch, modular web framework designed to be more flexible than either of the first. This talk will touch on a few aspects of the framework, including the extremely flexible routing mechanism, context factories, multi-template library integration, and as a bonus, how to build and a small AsyncIO Pyramid application in the same codebase. After the talk you will wonder why you ever used anything else.
Module of the Month: TBD
PARKING: There is metered street parking and cheap parking at the public library across the street (open 8am to 11pm, costs $1 per hour for the first 2.5 hours, after that, the rate is $1 per thirty minutes)
Recruiters are not welcome unless they are with the sponsor of our event! Any other recruiters who show up at our meetup will be asked to leave.
