April SoCal Python meetup at Philosophie (Santa Monica)

Details

Our April 2019 SoCal Python meetup will be hosted by the kind crew at Philosophie (https://philosophie.is) at their gorgeous venue!

We're pleased to announce that our food/drink co-sponsor for this meetup is TeleSign! (https://www.telesign.com/)

Thanks to everyone who stepped up to our call for sponsorship, we hope to work with you soon!

We request you only RSVP "Yes" if you can actually come! Otherwise you are excluding others from the event, and hurting our sponsors' ability to plan for the correct quantity of food and drink they're generously providing us.

<< Talk 1 >>

"I think I want to use Spark. So where do I start?" by Irina Truong

Abstract:
Perhaps you are not new to analyzing data. But your data has grown and can't be handled with Pandas on one machine anymore. Then someone mentions Apache Spark. But how do you start? This talk will give you some pointers.

<< Talk 2 >>

"Testing Pyramid and Consequences" by John Mitchell

Abstract:
The traditional testing pyramid is a useful tool for investing in tests which deliver business value... but there are a lot of subtleties. John will highlight each area of the Pyramid, then discuss extensions and variations, so that we all can more fully deliver wonderful quality code, quickly!
