The Story of Social House LA

Social House isn’t about upscale dining or exclusive clubs. It’s a nomadic events platform designed for sparking authentic human connections among people from many different walks of life. Whether you are a single seeking real bonds, a young professional looking for a poker night, or a creative searching for inspiration or industry insight. Our founder, Sultan Bishop, knows the hustle of a city that can feel isolating. He’s building Social House for the outgoing and curious, the shy and reserved—anyone from 25 to 60 who wants to laugh, learn, play, or simply connect without breaking the bank.

Pop-up events—dinners, cocktail classes, dating mixers, wine tastings, coffee workshops, poker nights, even night swims—unfold in unique spaces across LA County. From Eastside lofts to Santa Monica gardens, there’s no fixed venue, only a rotating lineup of lively backdrops.

At 19, when he was bussing tables at Applebee’s, Sultan first noticed connections spark across the table—and learned the grit of hospitality. Over the next 13 years, he worked his way through Southern California’s dining scene—Newport Beach Country Club, The Island Hotel, Fleming’s, Terranea Resort—and eventually managed banquets at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills. When COVID-19 brought a layoff, it wasn’t an ending but a beginning. Drawing on all he had learned, Sultan launched Social House: a platform designed to bring together people often overlooked by LA’s social scene.

The vibe is refined yet approachable, inspired by Southern California’s golden beaches, ocean blues, green-gold hills, Old Hollywood glamour, and a touch of lavender. On Instagram, Sultan shares bartending tips, culinary clips, and event snippets that blend polish with playfulness.

Starting out hasn’t been easy. He’s hosted a few dinners and sponsored drink events, often partnering with anyone who can help fill seats. Finding the right mix of people for each event is key, and he’s experimenting with formats to see what resonates. His dream? By the end of 2025, Social House will be LA’s go-to for genuine connection, where you always leave with new friends or collaborators. By 2026, he hopes to foster a solid member-based community that feels like home.

For Sultan, Social House is personal. It’s his way of giving LA’s dreamers, hustlers, and loners a place to belong—where a single finds a spark, a techie discovers a poker buddy, or an artist meets their next collaborator. It’s about showing up, sharing a moment, and carrying it forward.
