Keel Mountain Pack Walk 4mil (waterfall)
Details
Please read the group introduction page as we accept everyone in their social journey. Yes, that includes those with muzzles, rehabilitation must start no matter where you are. What's important is that their is a start and never an end in your dog's journey to social acceptance! There will be no discrimination.
Keel Mtn is located near/in Gurley AL. It's a beautiful hike! We will meet in the parking lot near the entrance of the trail at 9am. Please take out what you take in. This includes doggie poopoos. Nature and wildlife will not enter an area if they smell foreign predators...yes, domesticated dogs included. Anticipate waterfalls, creeks, social practice, friendship and this will more than likely not take several hours, however, I like to anticipate a good half day for any adventure we take.
What should I bring?
Water for your dog and yourself
water bowl
snacks (if needed, but I love a granola bar myself)
closed toed shoes
harness or collar
leash
treat pouch w/ treats or toys *squeakies are good* (if that is what helps then do it because motivation is always needed)
Yellow Ribbon on leash (if your dog is NOT to be approached/greeted as this is a universal sign)
smile
Please be advised: weapons will not be permitted. Tazers/knives are fine, however, this group is to promote safety and advocacy, guns or other paraphanlia typically don't promote the feeling of safety for others and this group is for the safety of our community so, please, leave them behind)
I am a cerified service dog trainer accredited through Animal Behavior College. I will be there 15min early if you need guidance on how to handle your dog on the trail. It's important that dogs and their people feel capable. Capability is what this is all about.
Also, if you're just in it to pet the dogs and have no dog of your own, please come. This is wonderful and much needed practice, no matter the skill level!!
