OVERVIEW:
Green Meadows Farm is a scenic, 122-acre historical farm in the southern part of Frederick County, MD (located in Ijamsville, between Frederick and Urbana). They perform animal rescue services and host a petting zoo that features more than 150 birds and animals. Many of the farm's residents are considered exotic, from llamas to emus, alpacas to peacocks, kangaroos to camels.
To help fund their rescue efforts and feed the animals, Green Meadows hosts a monthly "Barnyard Band and Booze" event, featuring live music from some of the DMV's premier acts. Food and beverages are available from onsite vendors, including various breweries, distilleries, wineries, and more. Tickets ($15 in advance; $18 at the gate) include three hours of outdoor live music, as well as access to all the farm's live animal/bird exhibits.
THE BAND: GUYS IN THIN TIES:
If you're a fan of 80's music, especially alt rock and new wave, Guys in Thin Ties (GITT) are among the very best bands in the Mid-Atlantic region. (Frankly, WAY BETTER than over-hyped acts like Quantum Leap, if I dare speak such blasphemy, LOL.) They are a REAL band (no fake backing tracks) that plays with passion and connects with their audiences, filling dance floors with rad 80's moves and gnarly nostalgia.
THE DETAILS:
RSVPs: This event is cross-posted through numerous groups — the more the merrier. But please think about whether you're really going to show up. (It's a haul, especially from NoVa.) Only RSVP if you actually intend to attend. That's not a big ask. Thanks.
Logistics: Gates open at 5:30 pm. The band starts at 6. Please bring a portable chair or blanket for seating. I (Carl, aka PapaDuck) plan to have a bright yellow duckling balloon at my chair to help folks find our position.
Barnyard Tour: For those interested, I would be happy to lead a quick tour of the animal attractions around 5:40 pm. Bring your cameras for some fun, Insta-worthy selfies with a collection of curious critters!
Financials: Again, the venue charges a modest fee — all of which benefits the animals. You can pay $15 in advance ($16.55 with fees) or $18 at the gate. Advance purchases can be made at THIS LINK.
