What we’re about
Welcome to Social Skills Gym, a playful, supportive space to practise and improve everyday conversation skills.
We’re not just here to chat, we’re here to learn. Through fun, easy-to-learn games and light exercises, you’ll build the tools you need to:
✔ Break the ice with confidence
✔ Ask engaging questions
✔ Give interesting, natural answers
✔ Practise listening and playful banter
✔ Get constructive feedback (without the awkwardness)
Who it’s for:
This group is for shy or introverted people who want to get better at social interactions in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
You don’t need to be super confident, but you should feel comfortable joining light conversation and simple activities in a small group.
👉 Please note: this is not a therapy or clinical support group, and may not be the right fit for people with severe social anxiety or challenges with basic conversation.
### FAQ
Q: Do I need to be super outgoing to join?
A: Not at all! This group is designed for people who want to practise and improve their social skills in a friendly, low-pressure space. You just need to be willing to join light conversation and simple group activities.
***
Q: I have pretty severe social anxiety—can I join?
A: This group may not be the best fit if you currently find it very hard to speak in groups or hold a simple conversation. We’re focused on everyday skills training, not clinical or therapeutic support.
***
Q: What happens at a typical meetup?
A: We play fun, structured games and exercises in pairs and small groups—think of it as a workout for your conversation muscles! You’ll practise things like breaking the ice, asking good questions, and playful banter. We rotate partners so you meet lots of people.
***
Q: Do I have to talk to the whole group at once?
A: Nope! Most of our activities happen in pairs or small groups. There’s no standing up to speak to a big room (unless you want to).
***
Q: Is this a dating or networking group?
A: Nope! This is a skills practice group. While you might make friends here, the main goal is to practise conversation and build confidence—not to pitch, promote, or pair up.
***
Q: What should I bring?
A: Just yourself, an open mind, and maybe a notebook if you want to jot down tips or insights.
***
Q: I’m still not sure if this is for me.
A: Feel free to message the organiser with any questions! We’re happy to help you decide if it’s a good fit.
