About us
Are you thinking of making friends and extend your social circle by doing volunteering? You are looking at the right place. We are aka "Social Volunteering Crew @ Community Events".
Are you going through a transitional phase of life, like being new, young, or restless, wishing to find your peers to vent, bond, or settle, trying to find meaning & purpose in social occasions? We have been there, we feel you, we hear you. We are trying something different, not small talks, but by doing things together that actually matter.
Have you wondered what big events people are flocking to, and then wondering at the nonstop stream of your peers parading in front of you, wishing to find ways to connect, to belong? The world isn't in short of social occasions, it is in short of ways that lead to deep conversations, that bond people.
Our approach is simple: we bond by shared purpose.
We do volunteering because it gives us something most social events don't — a shared task, a reason to talk, a natural way to break the ice without the awkwardness. You're not standing around wondering what to say, but are working side by side, and connection happens on its own. By the end, you haven't just met people—you've built something with them, forming a bonding of friends in arms. And this year, we are expanding beyond just that.
Started from our root of volunteers socializing together, we do these kinds of social activities:
- Festival and Cultural events with local city chambers and associations
- Outdoor volunteering with parks & non profits.
- Community social organizing, for ourselves, for people in transitional phases of life.
We volunteer together, organize and socialize together, in or around the events we participate, in different formats like pre-event lean coffee, in-event friends circle, after event group picnic/dinner, camping volunteering etc..
This is a team sport, and we are all on the field together.
We run on people stepping up. If you see a gap—an event that should exist, a neighborhood that needs a gathering spot, a group of people who should know each other—you can be the one who makes it happen. We'll share what we've learned and back you up. No charisma required. Just a warm heart and a willingness to try.
We cooperate with many orgs, agencies and businesses for events, including other meetup groups. So many a times you will see our events in other places as well, just sign up wherever you feel comfortable. And pass the words around.
Think of us as a social committee for grown-ups. A student union for post-college life. A gateway to local community social life, and the connection layer to community events.
