About Social40+
Social40+ is Melbourne’s social community for people aged 40 and over who want to meet new people, make genuine friendships, and enjoy everything this incredible city has to offer.
Life changes as we get older.
Friends move away. Careers become busier. Families grow. Relationships change. Before you know it, your social circle isn’t what it once was.
Making new friends as an adult shouldn’t be difficult.
That’s why Social40+ exists.
Jake, the founder of Social40+ started this community because he experienced exactly what many people are feeling today. He wanted to explore Melbourne, try new experiences and meet people who enjoyed doing the same things. Realising there were many others looking for genuine connection, but without the pressure, awkwardness or uncertainty that often comes with trying to meet new people.
Social40+ was created to change that with a simple vision statement;
"Bring great people together through fun, welcoming experiences where arriving on your own feels comfortable and leaving with new connections feels natural".

Our calendar includes a wide range of hosted social experiences across Melbourne, including:

Monthly Dinner Club
Friday drinks

Paint and sip events
Food and wine experiences
Festivals and seasonal events
Day trips and special experiences
Some events are completely free. Others attract a small Event Attendance Fee to keep us growing and thriving.
Many are pay-as-you-go, like dinners, exhibitions or ticketed experiences.
We aim to offer something for every personality, interest and budget, so you can choose the experiences that suit you.

Social40+ is about building real friendships through shared experiences.

Everyone Is Welcome
Social40+ is built on kindness, respect and inclusion.
We welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures and professions, including LGBTQIA+ members and allies.
Our members range from people in their mid 30's and forties through to those well into their eighties. Age matters far less than attitude.
Starting in Melbourne
Social40+ proudly began in Melbourne, one of the world’s great cities for food, culture and experiences. In fact, one of the greatest cities on earth!
Our calendar continues to grow each month, with the long-term vision of expanding into other Australian cities before eventually creating communities around the world.
