SASS presents: Authenticity in the Workplace

By itself, being authentic can be a nebulous endeavor already. Add on the pressures from societal expectations, family values, gender norms, ethnicity, marginalization, and so much more can lead us to mask our true selves. Cultivating authenticity through the lens of the Asian experience is a topic we’ll explore in this event with Kevin Do.

As a CS leader at Greenhouse Software, Kevin challenges Silicon Valley’s cultural norms by prioritizing the human first, embodying polar opposite identities, and cultivating both a deep and playful sense of belonging. During COVID, he created programs for self-care, self-advocacy through non-violent communication, and started an API ERG, Jadehouse, to unite his community. Outside of his day job, Kevin actualizes his purpose as a facilitator for a program called Relating Between the Lines, where he guides cohorts through a journey to take on the subtler skills in presence, expressing, listening, and tapping into the intelligence of emotion.
