What we’re about
SOFREE is a dynamic fellowship of Humanists, atheists, and agnostics that advances reason and humanism, provides outreach to our members and the broader Humanist community, and supports equitable public policies. SOFREE has been a registered Ontario charitable organization since 1992.
Whether you are a longtime Humanist, or curious to learn more, our events are open to all who value rationality, ethics, and compassion, and who are intrinsically motivated to do good for the betterment of humanity.
SOFREE's mission is to:
- Offer emotional support and outreach opportunities to people in the process of adopting a Humanist way of life.
- Advance education by hosting interactive events and providing resources related to philosophy, literature, music, and art.
- Provide an active and caring social network for our members.
- Be an essential source of referrals for licensed Humanist Officiants, to help couples and families plan weddings, baby-naming celebrations, funerals/memorials, and other meaningful life events, with warmth and respect.
