What we’re about
SOFREE is a multicultural, secular, charitable organization rooted in humanist principles, and dedicated to advancing human rights, promoting peace and equality, providing outreach to our members and the broader humanist community, and supporting equitable public policies. SOFREE has been a non-profit charity since 1992.
Whether you are a longtime humanist, or curious to learn more, our events are open to all who value rationality, ethics, and compassion, and who are intrinsically motivated to do good for the betterment of humanity.
SOFREE's mission is to:
- Provide a caring and supportive space for those adopting a humanist way of life.
- Inspire intellectual growth and creativity by hosting engaging events, offering valuable resources about humanist philosophy, literature, music, and art.
- Develop a vibrant social community and outreach network for our members.
- Serve as a trusted source of referrals for licensed Humanist Officiants who bring warmth, dignity, and sincerity to weddings, baby welcomings, memorials, and other meaningful life events.
