INFORMATION ABOUT STRUCTURED SWEDISH CHAT

What is “structured” chat?

Unlike general conversation groups which tend to lean towards repeating the same content over and over (name, job, location, how long you have been learning, etc.). This group will seek to widen our speaking skills on a variety of topics. Topics are given in advance (on the day of the event or earlier if possible) so you can feel prepared for the subject by reviewing key words, etc. you might want to use in the discussion. The aim of the group is to gain speaking confidence in a wide range of subjects of high interest (not just the news!).

What level is the chat?

Whilst the event is open to speakers at all levels, the reading and topics will be set to B1-C1. If you are a beginner, you may still join and try your best or simply listen in.

Important Note: To be let into the Zoom, you MUST be RSVP'd and your Zoom name needs to match your member name. We have a strict camera-on policy.

What is the session like?

5-8 minutes meet & greet
10 - 15 minutes reading / watching and comprehension questions / activities
10 - 15 minutes grammar and/or vocabulary focus
30 minutes focused discussion
15 minutes closing activity

Everyone will have a chance to speak. Speaking times will be set so everyone gets equal chance to speak.
