SOWW Workshop Series Presents: The Stellar Rep Formula (Sensory Character Description) with Imani Williams✨

Join the Society of Women Writers for an engaging workshop with Imani Williams on crafting authentic BIPOC characters with depth and intention.

Imani is a storyteller and advocate dedicated to expanding BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) representation across all forms of creative media. Born and raised in New York City, Imani began sharing her thoughts and tips on how to write authentic characters of color. What began as spontaneous TikTok videos evolved into a powerful mission to help writers diversify their writing. As the founder of Culture Craft By Imani, she provides accessible resources, tools, and support for creators committed to inclusive storytelling. Imani is thrilled to share her experience and actionable tools to the Society of Women Writers.

In this session, Sensory Character Description, Imani will focus on the first pillar of her framework: crafting vivid character descriptions that feel layered, intentional, and alive on the page. Through guided instruction and practical exercises, writers will explore how sensory detail, specificity, and perspective can deepen characterization and strengthen reader connection.

This is a virtual event 💻. The Zoom link will be sent 24 hours before the event to the email you used during registration.
