The colder weather and upcoming holidays mean plenty of time to catch up on filmi highlights from this year! In light of the 2025 release of Homebound, we're planning to spend the last non-holiday weekend of 2025 with award-winning director Neeraj Ghaywan. Join us in re-watching his 2015 film Masaan, followed by Homebound. If you're more ambitious feel free to tackle Ajeeb Dastaans or Made in Heaven too. We'll then meet up for chaat and chats at Bombay Bistro in Redmond on Christmas Eve evening. Hope you can join us!

Note: I'll make a reservation depending on the event headcount on 12/23, so please make sure your RSVPs are updated. Also, please note that this is not a movie screening! We will gather after watching these films independently (or not - you are welcome to show up anyway and catch up on these films later!).

Plot Summaries & Links
Masaan (2015; rent on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or view on Einthusan): Four lives intersect along the Ganges: a low caste boy in hopeless love, a daughter ridden with guilt of a sexual encounter ending in a tragedy, a hapless father with fading morality, and a spirited child yearning for a family, long to escape the moral constructs of a small-town. A series of unprecedented events find these lives, to reflect and explore their desires through each other.

Homebound (2025; view on Netflix or Einthusan): Two friends from a North Indian village pursue police jobs seeking dignity, but their friendship strains as desperation grows in their quest.
