What we’re about

Did you ever spend an hour discussing life's most important questions with a group of curious, smart people in a casual setting? That's what Socrates Cafe is all about.

Our meetups are about our own philosophies of life and not necessarily what the great philosophers and academics have said or written. We're not here to debate or change anyone's mind. Instead, we place the emphasis on questioning, open mindedness and developing ideas together with respect and kindness.

As the questions are democratically chosen, they tend to be the most interesting and relevant ones we share. Some recurring themes have been:

What are we here for?
What is true love?
Why do we often want what's bad for us?
What do we owe each other?
What makes a person attractive?
How does being a man or woman impact our identity?
Is morality really all that relative?
What are the sources of happiness?
How do you deal with loneliness?
