The Meaning of Life: What Is the Point of It All?

Details
At the end of the film *Saving Private Ryan*, the question is raised at the end about whether the sacrifice was a worthwhile one. Others had died to save Private Ryan. If this mortal life is all the live we'll ever live, why should someone die for another and give up one's all-too-brief earthly existence? Are we just cosmic orphans (Loren Eisley) or simply dancing to the music of our DNA (Richard Dawkins)
As our beloved Socrates has said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." While we could more closely examine this question itself, Socrates was on to something. As we think through our own lives and whether we've lived a meaningful life, what actually makes it meaningful? Is there some prescribed way to live? What or who is the prescriber? Do those who engage in socially deviant behaviors live meaningful lives in their own way?
These are some of the questions we'll explore. Looking forward to a great discussion with you all!
