What we’re about
This community is a breeding ground for lots of cool events involving software engineering. It is open to all people who are passionate about development and strongly believe in mastering the craft of software. Your experience level can be that of a level 1 front end ninja to that of a level 80 embedded software magician. Everybody who believes their craft is something to be proud of and something worth mastering and sharing is welcome to join our ranks.
These are some of the basic principles we believe in as software crafters:
Not only working software, but also well-crafted software
Not only responding to change, but also steadily adding value
Not only individuals and interactions, but also a community of professionals
Not only customer collaboration, but also productive partnerships
This community is fully (programming) language agnostic and will hosts events in whatever (programming) language is relevant for the people joining the event. In the past this has mostly happened in English and Dutch.

See all- Software Crafting & Testing Open Space: ZaventemTMC, Zaventem
Do you have a passion, interest, or curiosity in software development and testing?
Do you enjoy learning new ideas, techniques, and insights?
Do you want to meet like-minded peers in a relaxed and inspiring environment?Awesome — so do we.
SoCraTesBE is a non-profit, community-driven organisation committed to providing members with an open and welcoming space to discuss all things software crafting and testing.
Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting your journey, you're most welcome to join us!Format
SoCraTesBE events follow the unconference format — meaning no predefined agenda.
Instead, we build the program together on the night of the event, using an "open space" format that encourages dynamic, relevant, and self-directed discussions.
It’s a unique opportunity to learn from others, share your experiences, and grow as a developer or tester — no matter your current level.
You are not expected to propose a topic, step into the spotlight, or speak in public.
But we can assure you… it's more fun if you do.Lightning Talks
We kick off the evening with short lightning talks. These are informal, time-boxed presentations where you can share something cool, noteworthy, surprising, or just plain fun.
Got a story, tool, insight, or even a lesson learned from failure? We’d love to hear it.
No slides required. No pressure. It’s a great first step if you’re new to speaking.Open Space Sessions
After lightning talks, we’ll create a shared agenda using the “marketplace of ideas.” Everyone is invited to suggest topics, host sessions, or simply participate in the conversations that interest them.
We’ll have several rooms available for 30-minute parallel sessions. These can take any shape: a technical demo, group discussion, mobbing session, deep-dive Q&A, or even a hallway walk-and-talk.
No expertise required. If you're curious about a topic and want to explore it with others, that's enough to host a session.
Come as you are. Bring questions, stories, and your open mind.
We only ask that all participants follow our code of conduct and the guidance of our facilitators.
Still unsure what an Open Space is like?
