
What we’re about
Launched over thirty years ago by Christopher Phillips, during the impeachment proceedings of then-President Bill Clinton, Socrates Café and its kindred initiatives is an oasis of reasonableness, empathy, understanding, in a desert of rising intolerance and polarization around the world.
Our aim is not necessarily to debate but rather to share, discuss, and opine on any topic we select as a group. It's not about who's right or wrong but to have an opportunity to listen to each other with patience, kindness and understanding. Our aim is to bring back civil decorum in an era in which have desperately lost such an important concept.
