Being smart or being wise?
Details
This is the second of a two-part series on the topic on education. Last month we looked at the nature of an education and it purposes. For this upcoming Tuesday we will take a look at the relationship between knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom.
We live in an age of information that is readily available to just about everyone. We speak of making an ‘informed decision’, i.e. having sufficient knowledge about a matter to choose well. We hold up a choice between options, evaluate using some set of criteria to make a decision. Consider how much of our daily lives involves these kinds of evaluations. Which bus do I take to city centre? Should I enrol in that online course? Should I continue this relationship or not? What is the ultimate nature of the universe?
But how is making an ‘informed decision’ related to making a wise decision? What is the role of intelligence in that process?
NOTE: we ask for a 3 Euro donation via Revolut or Coin on the night to cover expenses. THANK YOU.
