Who Am I? Inquiry into the Nature of Self
Details
This circle invites an honest and open exploration of the fundamental question that has echoed through human consciousness across cultures and traditions: "Who am I?" Beyond intellectual understanding or spiritual concepts, we'll create a space for authentic inquiry into the nature of our being.
In a world where identity is often shaped by external definitions and social constructs, we'll take time to pause and look inward, drawing inspiration from both Eastern wisdom traditions and Western philosophical approaches, exploring this question with fresh eyes and open minds.
Core questions:
- What remains when we look beyond our social roles and identities?
- How can we directly experience our true nature rather than just conceptualizing it?
- What obstacles prevent us from recognizing who we truly are?
- How do different traditions approach the question of self and no-self?
- What happens when we sincerely inquire into our own existence?
- How might self-knowledge transform our everyday experience?
- What is the relationship between self-inquiry and freedom?
The first 15 minutes will be for casual arrival and connection, allowing everyone to settle into the space together. We'll then move into a brief 5-minute guided self-inquiry meditation to ground our exploration. The main portion will be an open, Socratic dialogue where questions lead to deeper understanding through genuine discussion and shared exploration. The final 15 minutes will be reserved for informal conversation and integration of insights.
