Pastafarian Pub Quiz

Details

Great news - the Pastafarian Pub Quiz is now a regularity, every 3rd Thursday of the month in Neu Berlin, until further notice!

The one in January was a blast, we had a lot of fun and got more pastafarians in attendance than we've ever had. That being said, it was also harder to manage and we won't be able to do it on a Saturday every month. That's why we decided to go back to doing the quiz on a weekday and try to get 8 teams to compete, rather than the 18 we had in January. This means much better odds of winning!

We are keen to do the massive get-together on the weekends though and we'll plan another weekend event, it just won't be every month.

Another change is participation fee PER TEAM - if you are an individual you don't need to pay admission, only if you form a team. Team registration is 10lv, either paid in advanced, along with booking a table, or on the spot (but the best tables might be gone). All proceeds go to the awards fund!

A recap of the rules:

  • Participating teams sign-up in advance or on the spot, 3 to 8 participants per team

  • Every team is given a form for the answers, one form per team per round (so 3 per team in total)

  • Round 1 - presenter reads the question aloud and shows it on the screen. The team has 1 minute to pick one of the answers (A/B/C/D) and write it on the answer form. At the end of the 1 minute period the next question is read and so on.

  • Round 2 - same as round 1 but teams have 2 minutes per question and there is no choice of answers (open questions)

  • Round 3 - multimedia. There is a picture, video or audio track, teams need to recognize what it is or answer some specific question related to what has been shown.

  • A correct answers gives the team 1 point (with bonus points here and there) and there will be announcements of the leaders after each round and of course the final standings after the last question.

  • Comments about the questions, correct answers, etc. are welcome but changes to teams' results will be done only after the event unless it's a purely mechanical error in the counting. In case you demonstrate that the your answer which hasn't been accepted as correct is in fact correct and this has cost you a prize you'll be compensated. Wikipedia is the final authority.

Topics:

This event's highlight will be particle physics (3-4 questions on the topic) with other questions in various fields of science, religion and italian quisine. To elaborate, you might expect questions about paleontology, bilogy, physics, astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, geology, linguistics and others.

Smartphones are not allowed - please don't take them out of your pockets during the rounds, the other competitors have no way of knowing that you're texting your boyfriend. There will be breaks between the rounds when you can catch up on your digital life, we're also planning an event where smartphones will be allowed!
