It’s been a minute, but we’re back and starting a brand new Bible study series called “She Chose Jesus.” This Saturday, we’re kicking things off with a powerful and personal topic: “Depression or Laziness?”

I recently walked through a season that made it hard for me to even show up, and I know I’m not alone in that. Whether it’s emotional heaviness or just feeling stuck, it can blur the lines between true depression and simply being unmotivated. But here’s the truth when we choose Jesus, we choose peace, clarity, and purpose.

This session is about coming back to that choice. To remind ourselves that with God, we are more productive, more present, and more alive. If you’ve been feeling distant, low, or just “off,” this is your invitation to come as you are.

Let’s reconnect, refill our cups, and choose Jesus together.

Verses For This Session ✨ :

1. Psalm 34:18 NIV:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

→ God doesn’t distance Himself from us when we’re in pain he draws closer.

2. Lamentations 3:22–23 NIV:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”

→ There’s grace for every new day even the hard ones.

3. Philippians 4:6–7 NIV:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…”

→ Anxiety is real, but so is peace that comes from surrendering it to God.

4. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

→ God doesn’t shame us for our worries. He invites us to release them to Him.

5. Proverbs 13:4 NIV

“A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.”

→ Laziness leaves us feeling empty, but diligence brings lasting satisfaction.

6. Proverbs 6:9–11 (NIV)

“How long will you lie there, you sluggard? … A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief…”

→ Spiritual laziness can rob us of purpose and momentum.

7. Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest…”

→ Choosing Jesus doesn’t mean pushing harder, it means resting in Him and moving from a place of peace.

8. John 15:5 (NIV)

“…If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

→ Real productivity and purpose come from staying connected to Him.

9. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

→ He equips us with exactly what we need to overcome and move forward.
