Understanding the ‘‘Conscientious/Cautious Thinker’’ behavioral style

Details

Many of us have a strong technology background and are high on the IQ (intelligence quotient) scale. This can open doors to the corporate world and help in getting the dream job. However, in order to become more effective and to excel at work and indeed in life, one needs soft skills viz. the ‘non-cognitive’ skills that enable us to express and amplify the ‘hard’ skills we have devoted so much time to acquiring. Non-cognitive skills include leadership, communication, empathy, innovativeness, integrity, taking initiative, perseverance, etc.).

This workshop will help in understanding different behavioral styles of people, interpreting their predominant persona, and adapting one’s response to communicate more effectively. By aligning ourselves with other behavioral styles, we are more likely to reach mutual understanding, agreement, confidence, and trust. Not recognizing others’ behavioral states may lead to unsatisfactory outcomes (disinterest, argument, misunderstanding, mistrust, etc.) or may even lead to a breakdown in communications.

This is part 4 of 4-part series to cover the following:
• Explanation of the 4 main behavioral styles.
• Learning and becoming aware of one’s own behavioral style.
• Learning how to spot the behavioral style(s) exhibited by others during 1-on-1 interactions and in group meetings.
• What happens when we don’t align, and how it may lead to friction or discord.
• Learning best practices on how to adapt to the other person’s behavioral style and align with that style to facilitate productive communication.
