About us
We are a regular Meetup group for software developers in Bristol who care about and take pride in what they do, how they do it, and the impact their work has on society.
This is a community for developers of all experience levels who want to improve and master their craft. Founded on the principles of software craftsmanship, all are welcome to meet, code, learn, and continuously improve.
Take a moment to read the Software Craftsmanship Manifesto that underpins our commitment to quality in software engineering.
We value:
* A community of professionals
* Working, well-crafted software
* Steadily adding value while responding to change
* Productive partnerships and collaboration
The community is supported by Codurance, a software consultancy whose experienced engineers, principals and senior leadership bring practical insight into software delivery, modernisation, quality, architecture and emerging technologies such as AI.
Alongside Codurance, the community is also supported by local partners such as Lloyds Banking Group and venue hosts who help us create valuable, practical and inclusive events for the Bristol software engineering community.
Software Crafters Bristol aims to provide a fun, safe and inclusive space for all members. Please take time to read our Code of Conduct - it applies to every community member and the events we deliver in any venue. If you have any concerns or questions please contact one of the organisers for support.
We aim to curate a program of events that meet the needs and interests of our members. You can also contact Codurance at [hello@codurance.com](mailto:natalie.gray@codurance.com) to discuss any aspect of the community - topics, themes, speaking, hosting etc.
We hope to meet you soon!

Coding Agents in Practice: Shipping Faster Without Shipping Worse
Accenture, 43 Queen Square, Bristol BS1 4QP, UK, Bristol, GBAI coding agents are changing how software is built, promising faster delivery, greater productivity and new ways of working. But as teams increasingly adopt these tools, an important question remains: How do we move faster without compromising software quality?
Join us for our next Software Crafters Bristol meetup, on Wednesday 25th November (6-8pm), hosted at Accenture's offices, for an engaging panel discussion exploring the practical realities of using AI coding agents in modern software development.
Our panel, featuring senior engineering leaders from Accenture and Codurance will share their experiences, challenges and lessons learned from working with coding agents, discussing where they genuinely add value, where human expertise remains essential and how teams can balance speed with maintainability, security and sound engineering practices.
What we'll explore:
- How coding agents are changing everyday software development
- Where AI genuinely improves developer productivity
- Maintaining code quality, security and long-term maintainability
- The evolving role of developers in an AI-assisted world
- Practical lessons from adopting coding agents in real-world projects
Whether you're already experimenting with coding agents or exploring how they might fit into your development workflow, this session offers an opportunity to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and learn from fellow software professionals.
