Architecting AI Systems: A Hands-On Kata

Join Software Crafters Newcastle at TusPark Newcastle on 14th October from 6pm to put your architectural design skills to the test, this time with some help from AI.

Good architecture comes from practice, and that's exactly what our architecture katas offer: a safe, repeatable way to sharpen your design skills by working through realistic architectural challenges.

How does it work?
You'll join a small group and be given a business problem to solve. Your task is to design a technical architecture that fits the problem context. Just like in real projects, you'll need to weigh up trade-offs and work with a Product Owner to clarify requirements as you go.

To finish, each team will present their architecture and technology choices to the room, followed by an open group discussion.

Who is it for?
Whether you're an experienced developer, a software architect, an AI engineer or just starting out, you're welcome to come along, share your perspective and learn from others in the Newcastle crafting community.

You don't need any architecture experience or to have attended a previous session. We'll provide paper, pens and sticky notes for each group.

Bringing AI into the mix
Each group will have access to one laptop for using AI during the kata. If you have an AI subscription you're happy to use, please bring your laptop along.

Food and drinks will be provided, with vegetarian, vegan and non-alcoholic options available.
