What we’re about

The Software Design Berlin Meetup is where software architects* come together to share, learn, and try out new ideas.

(* if you practise software design in any way you are an architect 😊)

Ever had a wild idea on a system design approach and wanted honest feedback? This is your place. We love deep dives into design with activities like architectural katas.

And while big crowds are great, we value a tight-knit group who really want to be here.

Join us and be part of a community that learns and grows together.

Why do I have to ‘Request to join’?
We want everybody in the group to be ready to join us physically and collaborate with others. Our goal is to have an amasing face-to-face conversations and learn from each other, not to have a large number of members most of which are not active.

Please answer the questions when requesting to join. We read them and personally reply to each one of them.

What is an Architectural Kata?
(Taken from Neal Ford who cites the creator of the original Katas site, Ted Neward:)

> The Architectural Katas were born out of a simple desire: software architects need a chance to practice being software architects, just as programmers need a chance to practice being programmers. Dave Thomas created the concept of the “Code Kata” while watching his son at karate practice, and that turned out to be a popular concept: a series of exercises that programmers can attempt in a variety of different languages, as a way to help master the language.
