Details

This will be a virtual, SKYPE meeting only.

  • Software Development lacks the coherence found in other engineering disciplines.

  • Proposed remedies have not fixed and are not fixing the problems in building the world's needed software.

  • Software Engineering luminaries have researched and proposed new curricula, but without industry consolidation and adoption.

Some discussion topics available today:

  1. How do we measure successful engineering? Return On Investment is one way, but there are other measurements.

  2. What skills are needed by a software engineer? What skills should be taught formally in a classroom, and what skills are to be developed in an internship or on the job?

  3. What leads to failure in software engineering, and what items in a curriculum could prepare a graduate to avoid typical failures?
