The Collaborators Dream: Intro To Mob Programming/Software Teaming (GOTHENBURG)

Details

It's finally official, we're going to have our first meetup!

At this meetup, we will explore the art of software teaming (also known as mob programming). In this activity, the entire team moves to solve virtually any task coming their way, together, and in real-time with nothing but a single computer.

The best part? You don’t need to know anything about programming!

This is the perfect meetup for you if you can relate to any of the below:

  • You’re a Product Manager (or similar “non-techy person”), and you want to find ways to move forward effectively with your team beyond code
  • You’re a brand new developer who would like to have an opportunity to learn new things
  • You’re an experienced tech person, who wants to find new ways to level up other developers that feel less tedious than reviewing pull requests or writing docs

There will be a light introduction to the idea behind mob programming, followed by simple instructions to (facilitator-supported) mob programming sessions in breakout groups of 4-6 people.

Thanks to Nevin, one of the most wholesome and friendliest companies I’ve worked with, we've got an amazing opportunity to do this meetup centrally in Gothenburg, near Domkyrkan.

AGENDA:
🌯 11:00 - Get a tasty portable lunch and get comfortable
👨‍🏫 11:15 - William Bernting will kick off the workshop with a light introduction to mob programming and some of the problems it aims to solve

🏁 13:15 - The event reaches its end and participants are encouraged to continue discussions and exchange contact information on their way out.

There will be a limited amount of seats, so take your chance and book now!

Questions & Answers
-------
Does the event cost anything?
No, this is free of charge for all visitors, and a lighter lunch is included.

You said no programming skills are required, are you sure…?
Yes! When we say we want diverse groups trying out software teaming, we mean diverse. This is so we can help overcome obstacles together, beyond code.

With that said, if you end up feeling too uncomfortable, you can always choose to spectate or be a silent observer during the workshop. We want to give everyone a chance to pick up new things at a pace that suits them.

Do I need to bring anything?
All you need to bring is an open mind and a friendly attitude!

I love mob programming and want to help!
That’s awesome! Depending on the turnout and availability of facilitators, we may get an impromptu need for facilitators. Beyond that, we’re greatly looking forward to seeing you contribute to the groups positive experience of software teaming/mob programming.

Do you have a code of conduct?
Yes, you can find it here: https://whip-resistance-ad0.notion.site/Meetup-Code-of-Conduct-1e742af772a04d05b9c6fcfba63c88e0?pvs=4

COVID-19 safety measures

We'll be working closely next to each other with physical role rotations, so if you're not feeling well, take the necessary precautions out of respect to your fellow collaborators. Thank you!
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
