This is a moderate hike of 8 miles round trip with about 1000' of elevation gain. No dogs, please. We ought to be on the trail by 9 a.m. We will hike for an hour or so and take 5 minutes for a water break, then hike another hour or so and come to Cook and Green Creek where we will spend a half hour in a beautiful spot near the creek. Bring your own "lunch" - snacks - water. As always, come "prepared" dressed in layers for adding or deleting -- and prepared for emergencies. We ought to be back in J'Ville mid-afternoon, but please, come prepared to enjoy the journey and not to rush back.
From Road #1040 at 2400' elevation, the trail begins traversing up, and up for a mile or so until we finally arrive at a contour well above the creek way below us in the valley. Once at that contour, the trail pretty much holds to it.
This hike is in my Southern Oregon Hiking Trails: Applegate Area book on page 44, map on page 43.
