Kerby Peak

Day hike to the top of Kerby Peak, located east of Selma. This is a strenuous hike, gaining 2,600 feet in 3.5 miles to the summit (7 miles RT), elevation 5,535 feet. Beautiful, diverse forest with interesting trees and plants endemic to this region. Excellent views from the top. The first two miles are the steepest. Trekking poles are highly recommended for the descent. Bring lunch and snacks, at least two liters of water per person and appropriate clothing. It could be cool and breezy on the summit. Trailhead access via gravel road in good condition. Vehicles with very low clearance may encounter problems.
Group will depart Albertson's in Central Point at 0800 and make a stop in Grants Pass at Grocery Outlet, departing at 0845, for those who wish to meet the group at that location. This will be a full day, with an expected return to Central Point around 1700 (5pm).
