Brown Mountain Lava!!

Details
Walk across the Brown Mountain Lava flow with views of Mt. McLoughlin on the Pacific Crest Trail! This is a 5.8 mile round trip, there and back hike with 550 feet of elevation gain (2.9 miles each way).
Bring lunch and water. It can be cool in the forest shade, and warm on the lava flow. Walking poles are optional. Dogs are welcome.
We will meet at 8:45am in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree in White City (7338 Crater Lake Hwy, White City, OR 97503).
We'll travel east on Highway 140 to milepost 32, at the border of Klamath and Jackson Counties. Turn left at Summit Snow Park (Summit Trailhead), and then immediately make a second left (not quite a U-turn). Follow the paved road one-tenth of a mile to a large parking area. There is one restroom here (bring your own toilet paper).
Once on the Summit Trail, it's 0.2 miles to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) immediately after crossing the Cascade Canal Bridge.
Turn left at the PCT (there is signage). The trail descends along the Cascade Canal 0.4 miles to Highway 140.
Carefully cross Highway 140. It's another 0.2 miles to the High Lakes Trail Junction.
Go straight staying on the PCT. We'll continue walking 2.1 more miles on the PCT to a high point. Once the PCT starts descending, it is time to turn around and find a lunch spot.
After lunch, we'll return the way we came. Be sure to turn right at the Summit Trail Junction for the final 0.2 miles to the parking lot.
Feel free to message Chris on meetup or text at (541) 261-8167.
