Little Butte Creek & Fish Lake Hike

Details
The Fish Lake Trail starts along the North Fork Little Butte Creek and goes to Fish Lake Resort. The round trip walking distance is 6.6 miles with 300 feet of elevation gain.
We'll meet at 8:45am at the Dollar Tree parking lot. 7338 Crater Lake Hwy, White City, OR 97503.
From there, we'll carpool east on Highway 140 toward Mt. McLoughlin. Between Mileposts 28 & 29 we'll turn right on paved Road 37. The turnoff can easily be missed.
Take Road 37 about 1/2 mile to the trailhead on the left across from North Fork Campground.
Once on the Fish Lake Trail, we'll walk 0.6 miles through forest along the North Fork of Little Butte Creek. It is possible to encounter a few mosquitoes in the forest.
At 0.6 miles, the trail splits and the right fork leads to the base of Fish Lake Dam. The only log crossing is on this spur trail which is optional. From the dam, retrace your steps back to the Fish Lake Trail. This detour adds about 0.4 miles.
The Fish Lake Trail continues through forest almost a mile before Fish Lake comes into view.
The trail along Fish Lake will be mostly in the shade of trees between Fish Lake and the trail.
The trail is closer to the shoreline going around Doe Point Campground. Expect to see more people from here to the Fish Lake Resort.
At the 3 mile mark on the left are restrooms with flush toilets.
At the 3.3 mile mark is the Fish Lake Resort, our lunch stop and turn around point. Picnic tables, another public restroom (with flush toilets), a restaurant and small grocery store are close by.
Here is the National Weather Service Forecast for Fish Lake Resort (usually about 15 degrees cooler than Medford).
