Black Friday Sunrise Hike!
Details
This hike is designed to justify your Thanksgiving dinner.
We will walk RoxyAnn Road to the Handicapped Accessible trail then summit RoxyAnn and hopefully see the sunrise along the way. There is about 8 miles of walking with 1,600 feet of elevation gain.
We'll meet at the edge of the Eagle Trace Subdivision at the last street lights on RoxyAnn Road.
Get there by taking Hillcrest Road. Turn left at RoxyAnn Road (at the sign for Prescott Park). Go 1/4 mile on RoxyAnn Road & parallel park just past the 2nd left (Autumn Park Drive).
We'll walk up RoxyAnn Road to the Handicapped Accessible viewpoint. There is a portapotty here. On our way up RoxyAnn Road, we will rely on our night vision. There will be ambient light from nearby houses and the Rogue Valley.
From the Handicapped Accessible viewpoint, we'll take the handicapped accessible paved path to the Manzanita Trail.
The Manzanita Trail takes us to the top of RoxyAnn. (If the Manzanita Trail is muddy, we'll go up the Oak Trail to the Ponderosa Trail.)
Once on top of RoxyAnn, we'll go to the North viewpoint first, and then the South viewpoint.
On our way down, we'll take the Ponderosa trail to the Oak Trail. If needed, we can include a detour to the upper parking lot with 2 Porta Potties.
Otherwise, we'll continue counterclockwise around RoxyAnn to the Greenhorn trail (via either RoxyAnn Road, or a new trail under construction).
The Greenhorn trail takes us to RoxyAnn Road just above the second gate. Turn left on RoxyAnn Road, which then takes us back to where we parked our cars.
