Advancement in a future data model for the Internet that decentralizes authority and redistributes it to people by giving them increased control over who with and how their personal data is shared; provides a range of new commercial opportunities, where currently viable business models are being tested. The Solid Project is the driver for this advancement of web standards.
Awesome announcements for the year ahead!
Responding to the great speakers we had in 2022 - who provided incredible insights, show & tells, and knowledge share of their experiences & challenges of using, implementing, and deploying Solid - we hosted a well-attended stakeholder round table event in November to better understand community needs and what the role of a potential UK Solid community organiser might be. Over the winter months, we've been working away and we're very excited to announce the incorporation of SolidUK C.I.C. We'll be sharing what this is and what we think SolidUK could look like, including how it could serve members of the community to help with the adoption of Solid. We're excited to listen to your initial thoughts and feedback on this proposal by giving community members this opportunity to talk directly to us.
Amongst other community updates, we'll be sharing our plans for the tech meetup scene growth and sharing how people can get involved with this.
To accompany this announcement, we're very pleased to welcome Kurt Cagle, who will help with framing spatial web and the Solid space and outline the benefits a new data stewardship model can offer. Kurt is the founder and CEO of Semantical, LLC, a consulting company focusing on enterprise data hubs, metadata management, semantics, and NoSQL systems. We'll have Kurt online for the majority of the evening, so when you arrive you'll have the opportunity to chat with Kurt during the first networking session (5:30 - 6:15pm).
