What if travel didn’t feel like tourism?
Hi everyone 👋
Over the last few months, I’ve been thinking about a different way of travelling — something slower, more personal, and less crowded than the usual group trips.
Instead of 40–50 people in a tour bus and packed itineraries, imagine travelling with a small group of 8–10 curious strangers, staying in simple forest homes, sharing meals with locals, cooking together, going on unhurried nature walks, and spending evenings around a bonfire under the stars.
This idea is what I’m calling Alternate Travel — travel that is less about ticking places off a list and more about experiencing a place and the people around you.
To try this out, I’m planning a small 3-day trip to Binsar (Uttarakhand) from Thursday night, 9 April 2026 to Sunday, 12 April 2026.
The plan is simple:
• Overnight drive from Delhi
• Stay in a forest homestay inside Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary
• Slow mornings, nature walks, conversations, and local experiences
• A small group (max ~10 people)
Right now this is still an idea taking shape, and I’d love to hear what this community thinks.
Would something like this interest you?
What kind of experiences would make a trip like this memorable for you?
Curious to hear your thoughts 🙂
