In the Earthseed novels that inspired the SolSeed Movement, the first Earthseed community is called Acorn. Drawing on this and other sources, and following up on the inspiration from our first Shiny Green Festival last year, we're holding an Open Space unconference to playfully plan for a future ecovillage in the Portland area, a place for people to live and work together toward a future of Earth giving birth to a family of living worlds!

We're hoping to spend much of the time at the existing Tryon Life Community Farm (http://tryonfarm.org/share/) ecovillage, as well as other nearby locations that will help inspire our thinking. Activities will include building a small-scale 3D model of our initial ecovillage plan and an illustrated timeline of how we might build it, playing social-organization games, brainstorming ways to motivate ourselves to make dramatic life changes, and exploring Tryon and possibly other ecovillages in the area. Other opportunities to celebrate the occasion include canoeing/kayaking on the Willamette, biking in the Providence Bridge Pedal (http://www.providence.org/bridge-pedal), or attending the JamBallah belly dancing festival (http://www.jamballahnw.com/)!

The event will be kid-friendly and flexibly scheduled to accommodate whatever participants want to do with the ecovillage concept. Attendance is free (except for other people's events like JamBallah) and some meals will be included, but we appreciate donations to help cover the costs for the event space.

We look forward to seeing you there!
