About us
Founded by Sarah Kerr, PhD in 2012, The Centre for Sacred Deathcare helps people meet death –and life– in ways that are more healing, and more whole.
We gather a vibrant community of learners and seekers who gather to share our curiosities, passions, insights, and experiences. Our approach is rooted in nature-based spirituality and modern consciousness research, and we welcome those of all spiritual perspectives (or none).
We primarily provide online education and training, but are grounded in Victoria, BC and offer in-person, weekend grief rituals here 3-4 times a year.
We welcome anyone who’s interested in bringing a more spiritual lens to death and bereavement, including:
- Everyday mortals wanting to learn about Sacred Deathcare for themselves, their family, and their communities.
- Those walking their own healing path after a deep personal experience with death and wanting to support others through the process.
- Birth doulas, healthcare or funeral professionals, bodyworkers, counsellors, energy practitioners, chaplains, and hospice volunteers looking to bring more spiritual depth to their practice.
- Death doulas wanting to step beyond practical and logistical training into soul-centric approaches that resonate more deeply with their calling.

Facilitator, Sarah Kerr, PhD
As founder of The Centre for Sacred Deathcare, Sarah has been teaching everyday Deathwalkers to meet mortality in a soul-based way since 2012. She has facilitated somatic grief rituals in Canada, the US, and Australia since 2017. Visit her Instagram @sacreddeathcare.🌿 "I'm transformed every time I attend an Across the Veil Grief Ritual. I always feel in good hands as Sarah leads us fearlessly through places we thought we couldn't go." - Rowan W.
For Death Doulas and End-of-life Practitioners
If you support dying people and their families, part of what you bring is your own embodied familiarity with the dying journey. People feel it, and it’s part of the healing gift you offer. Join us to build and strengthen this embodied knowing by deepening your relationship with the dying process.🌿 "I feel really alive to the possibilities of my life ahead... something that has been holding me back or really constraining me has dropped away." - Katherine S.
We enter through the gateway of death and loss but what we find is deeply life-affirming.
You’ll leave feeling lighter, more connected, and with a renewed sense of meaning.
