Hello! My name is Jason, and I've been running a standup comedy show at the Somerville Theater for nearly two years now. It's been a blast. Our next show is Thursday, 11/13, and I'd love for you to come!
We run the show in the 30-seat "microcinema" in the basement, which is a cool intimate venue. Since it’s a movie theater, we play classic Looney Tunes cartoons while people are being seated before the show. The theater sells beer, wine, popcorn, and candy, but you can also bring outside food (aside from alcohol). You can watch a “trailer” for the show here.
This month's headliner is the hilarious Janet McNamara. She has a totally unique perspective and off-kilter jokes that I love. Janet has opened for some of the biggest names in comedy and appeared on FOX. Bill Burr has shared her clips, and Maria Bamford praised her "amazing delivery, enviable timing, and very unique material." Janet is the best!
The show will also feature a special performance by Ari Dhar (aka Aye D1), the wonderful musical comedian and social media star. You may have seen her on FX's English Teacher.
