Songsalive! LA Song Critique Workshop - The Art of Rhyming with Jeff Walker

On Sunday August 18 at 12PM, Songsalive! continues their monthly songwriter’s workshop series with Jeff Walker. Jeff Walker uses his Rhymecology platform to write and teach the Art of Hip-Hop lyrics across the world. His rhymes have been featured on 60 Minutes, TNT (Inside the NBA), Fox Sports Radio, Power 106FM, ESPN and more. As a writer he has written for the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, Jamie Foxx, Randy Jackson and more. He is the author of The Art of Hip-Hop Lyrics and Using Hip-Hop to Heal. Jeff’s topic: The Art of Rhyming. Whether you are a hip-hop aficionado or just testing the waters, The Rhymecologist will help you step up your lyric writing skills in just one session. The hip-hop based Rhymecology techniques will improve song writing in any genre and give you that unique edge to stand out.

Hosted by Rik Lawrence, of Songsalive!, the largest global songwriters squad, the Songsalive! Workshops are open to all songwriters, composers, lyricists and musicians. First half song critique. Second half industry session, with invaluable guest speakers from the music business. Come ready with your songs for feedback and create long lasting relationships in the songwriting community.

Goals of our Workshops: 1) the SONG and making it the best it can be. 2) providing a community for our members to gather, network, collaborate and learn. Come prepared for song critique (see below)

WHEN: SUNDAY AUGUST 18, 2019 (3rd Sundays of the month)

TIME: Starts 12:00pm sharp. Ends at 3pm.
Attendees are asked to stay for the whole workshop.

COST: Free for Songsalive! PRO Members and $10 for everyone else*. RSVP is mandatory. No-shows and late arrivals will not be invited back.

~ HOW IT WORKS ~
First half song critique. Second half guest speaker talk or really good music business discussion - topics TBD.

1. Only Pro Members can receive a song critique
2. First come first serve. We randomly choose (draw) from Pro Members who arrive on time but we cannot guarantee everyone will get an opportunity due to time.
3. First timers can only audit the class (watch).
4. Late arrivals will forfeit ability to receive song critique.

~ COME PREPARED ON THE DAY ~

• Where applicable, bring 20 typed copies of your lyric sheet (with full contact details).
• Perform live, or bring song on CD, iPod, phone. Hook up to Stereo provided. Second half co-writing session, BRING your INSTRUMENT.

This venue is not a lunch spot so either bring a packed lunch or donate to Songsalive! on the light snacks and refreshments.
