What we’re about
About Us:
Since 2013, songwriters from beginners to pros come together to share their songs in a safe environment and get supportive and useful feedback from other songwriters.
This is a great place for anyone who wants to improve their songwriting, connect with other songwriters, and have a safe space to share their songs.
All skill levels and genres are welcome! Pop, Folk, Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Dance and anything else.
The hosts also host Song Talk Radio, the weekly podcast with songwriting tips and techniques.
Meetups will take place in-person at the Tranzac Club in Toronto or online over Zoom.

Once a month, songwriters from beginners to pro, come together to share their songs with other songwriters in a safe and supportive environment. The focus of the group is to give each other constructive feedback on their songs.
We're very happy to be resuming in-person meetups at the Tranzac in Toronto!
HOW IT WORKS
There will be a sign-up sheet for 12 songwriters to share their songs. Be sure to arrive a little early to secure your spot.
You can perform your song live with your guitar, with the in-house piano, a cappella, or just read your lyrics. You can also play back a recording of your song from your mobile device. Anything goes, as long as it's your creation.
Each songwriter will be given about 10 minutes to share their song and receive feedback from the other members. You can also tell us what kind of feedback you're looking for before you perform your song.
When you're providing feedback to a songwriter, please keep your comments brief and constructive. Start with positive notes about the song, and follow up with suggestions to make it better. Try not to point out negatives without a possible solution.
THE FINE PRINT
The meetup is open to all styles of songwriting. Folk, pop, electronica, dance, rock, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, or anything else.
It's strongly recommended to hand out lyric sheets to the group; you'll get better and more informed feedback when people can easily understand the structure and lyrics of your song.
The group is always a lot of fun and inspiring! It's a great place to meet fellow songwriters, musicians, producers, and collaborators.
APPRECIATE THE TRANZAC
The Tranzac club is an institution in the Toronto music community. It's a non-profit, member-run organization, and they are generously giving us the Living Room space for free to hold our meetups. We encourage everyone to purchase a drink and we'll also pass around a jug for donations to the Tranzac. You can also become a member of the club that has all sorts of benefits - check out Membership – Tranzac Club.
