Critic Quotes:
"Bring Them Home shares more than just the incredible community effort to bring bison back. It imparts the crucial message that we are a part of nature, reminding us that we are not just the caretakers of wildlife, we are kin. This is especially true for the niitsiittupii people and iinnii, who have lived together on their homeland since time immemorial, and whose lives have been so closely interconnected."
"What Bring Them Home argues, persuasively, is the psychological impact that this destruction has had on indigenous people. As the camera tracks communities punctuated by derelict homes—windowless, doors ajar, collapsed walls with insulation exposed—Gladstone talks about the people who once lived inside, stalked by depression, substance abuse, suicide.
"Gladstone’s voice is gorgeous-perfect for narration. I’d love to see her do much more of this. In the best way possible it made me want to fall asleep. so soothing. Made me so emotional. Such beautiful animals and it is incredible to see them return to their home, with their family. What a wonderful community of people who organised this project and brought them home. An absolute must watch documentary."
"Consistently gorgeous in every frame. Probably about 100 images from this that could become a screensaver. The doc also has a strong arc, so strong that this Seattle International Film Festival audience applauded multiple times at points of catharsis, including one of the most important that seemed, disappointingly, to be filmed with a cell phone.
