Monte Rio Redwoods

This is one of My Favorite local places to hike. There are spectacular views of the Willow Creek watershed and miles of hiking trails thru redwood forests dappled with sunlight.
This Trailhead Has Very Limited Parking.
You Must Have Zero No Shows to Attend.
Everyone will start on the Waitlist.

Where We Meet/Important Directions
Due to limited parking and the desire to accommodate as many hikers as possible everyone must carpool!
Meet and be ready to leave by *830am* from the commuter parking lot at the corner of Graton Rd. & Main St. in Occidental.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive, it often takes longer than you think. Especially this one!

The Hike
Fern Springs, Eastside, Deadwood, Koerber, Upper Freeze Out, Blair Witch, West Panties and East Panties trails - A loop hike
Length - +/-5.25 miles/8.45 kilometers
Elevation change - +/-985 feet/252 meters
Difficulty - 7+/10 moderately strenuous
Exposures - 40% sun /60% shade - rocky, poison oak, ticks and insects.
Bring plenty of water. At least 68 oz. /2 liters.
Dogs - No, only because we're car pooling.
Facilities at trail head - None! Plan ahead.
Cost - $5 cash
Parking - Meet and be ready to leave by 830am from the commuter parking lot at the corner of Graton Rd. & Main St. in Occidental.
Remember to wear appropriate hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, snack/lunch, layered clothing & trekking poles.
Please Do Not Use Any scented products the day of a group hike!
Of course, we will all look out for each other but ultimately, hikers are responsible for their own safety and well-being during hikes.
