Nisene Loma Prieta to West Ridge Trail Loop
Details

**PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION SO THAT YOU ARE ADEQUATELY PREPARED AND COMFORTABLE WITH THE STATED LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY**
Let's hike amongst the towering redwoods in our beautiful Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. Weather forecast is sunshine with temperature ranging from mid-50s to mid-60s. Ideal for hiking!
We'll start our hike at George's Picnic Area with a half-mile
walk along Aptos Creek Road to Porter Trail. Then Porter>Loma Prieta Grade>Bridge Creek>Loma Prieta Grade>Ridge Connection>West Ridge>George's Picnic Area.
I'm planning on hiking counter clockwise: Loma Prieta Grade to Bridge Creek to Ridge Connection Trail to West Ridge Trail.
I would consider this a challenging hike based on distance, steep climbs and water crossings (one with stepping stones and one with a sturdy plank bridge). Expect poison oak to be lining our path so long pants are recommended. And ticks are always interested in joining the party :)
Length: 10 miles Elevation Gain: 1634 ft Route Type: Loop
Hike Time: 4-5 hours
Effort: Challenging (see Photo below)
Bring water (1-2 liters), snacks, tick/poison oak protection, hiking shoes with good tread, any anticipated first aid needs and your love for adventure!
There is a "restroom" near our parking spot. Sadly no dogs are allowed on these trails.
Consider carpooling in as parking spaces are limited and it is
a holiday weekend. We'll start our hike at 8:45am.
Safety: Please keep in mind that you always hike at your own risk and you are ultimately responsible for your own safety.
