Greetings friends,
I hope this message finds you well. Join us at the Blue Lotus Healing studio this Sunday as we explore the wisdom of Paramahansa Yogananda.
A Self-Realized Master who came to America from India in 1920, Paramahansa Yogananda is known as “the father of Yoga in the West”. Known for popularizing yoga philosophy and meditation through his spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi”, Yogananda’s teachings offer practical advice and metaphysical yogic techniques for all people, regardless of religious belief, to advance on the spiritual path and live supremely well. If you find yourself asking big questions about life and "what does it all mean?" kind of stuff...read Autobiography of a Yogi.
Central to Yogananda's philosophy is that we are not these little mortal bodies. We are infinite, immortal souls who have simply returned to earth to continue working out our karma and unfulfilled desires from countless past lives. When we meditate, it is an act of remembering the divinity that already dwells within us. This is the way of Yogananda. And it is filled with indescribable joy and happiness. His teachings are rooted in the ancient philosophy of original Yoga as taught by the great Sage Patanjali and by his own Guru, Swami Sri Yuketeswar Giri and his divine lineage of Gurus.
This event is for anyone interested in yoga meditation or learning simple tools to cultivate peace and calmness through seated meditation. No experience is necessary. In addition to a reading a passage from one of Yogananda's books, I will guide you through several simple meditation exercises that will aid you in quieting the mind and body as we then take time to go into stillness.
A quick note about my personal journey: I started my meditation journey around 2008. Before I found meditation, I struggled with intense bursts of anxiety, anger, sadness, etc. I was riding the roller coaster of emotions and it wasn't fun. Meditation and Yoga philosophy helped me discover the peace, joy, and power that dwells in the silent temple of my heart and soul.
