**Date - Saturday 22nd of June 2024 - Duration: 4 hours.** Meet @ 9am – Start 9.30am – 1.30pm - Finished time of event @ - 2pm – OPEN TO ALL – 4 Hour Guided Private Birding Experience for this Velddrif Berg River Day Kayking Exp & Bird Viewing Tour With Paddle Experience, starting at Kuifkopvisvanger. The meeting point is located 95min from Cape Town, where ever possible there will be lift sharing options to save on petrol costs

**If you are concerned about it being in winter, the double Kayaks are very stable and you can wear a raincoat to keep the water drips as you paddle.** This is definitely a nature experience, not to be missed. No previous paddling experience required is required for this trip.

**Starting and finishing at Kuifkopvisvanger this leisurely paddle takes in the beauty of the tidal basin of the Berg River where you can spot abundant birdlife.** Along the way you could see Flamingoes, Pelican, kingfishers, Fish Eagles and so much more. The Berg River offers endless opportunities to paddle. The lower reaches are abundant with bird life, from kingfishers to flamingos. This stretch of water provides an ideal breakaway for paddlers wanting to experience the outdoors. Paddling is possible from upstream starting at Paarl all the way towards the estuary mouth into the Atlantic Ocean. The downstream excursions are arranged only in winter when the water level is higher following the seasonal rains, to be able to navigate the river channels.

One of the Western Cape’s great secrets is the diverse range of sought after endemic bird species.

A few birds to look out for on route: Ducks, Geese, Fish Eagle, Herons, Cormorants, include Great White Pelican and Giant, Malachite and Pied Kingfisher and Red-knobbed Coots, Pied Avocet, African Darter, several Egrets, Black-headed, Grey and Purple Herons and African Spoonbill. Then you may also spot the Bokmakerie, Karoo Scrub Robin, Red-capped, Karoo, Large-billed Lark, Cape Long-billed Lark, Yellow and White-throated Canary, Cape Bunting, Long-billed Crombec and Cape Spurfowl and the list goes on.
