About us

Source Cited is a casual lecture series where we have local professors, scholars and experts in various fields deliver lectures to the public in casual settings.

We live in an age of lightning-fast communication paired with information overload. Yet, these technologies appear to produce the opposite effect: declining literacy skills, an erosion of social engagement in meaningful discourse, and weakening communal bonds. At the same time, knowledge remains locked behind paywalls and systemic, institutional barriers.
We believe learning is not just a short phase of life where one accumulates skills for the “real world,” but a lifelong project grounded in curiosity and imagination, because education is the real world.

Our mission is to create a shared space where friends and neighbours gather in the flesh to engage with learning rather than passive entertainment, and leave with new interests to pursue further.
