Africa's First Unified Digital Accessibility Standard
Details
Fourteen African countries have formally endorsed efforts to harmonise the Africa Digital Inclusivity Standard, a move that could reshape how digital products are designed and evaluated across the continent. The initiative, spearheaded through a partnership between inABLE and the African Organisation for Standardisation, aims to deliver Africa's first unified digital accessibility standard for ICT products and services, one tailored to the continent's unique context, including infrastructure limitations, linguistic diversity, and varying connectivity levels.
In this session we unpack what this standard means in practice, and what it could mean for developers, designers, and organisations building accessible digital products locally.
